About the Congress

Cavite State University, through the National Coffee Research, Development and Extension Center will be hosting the 1st Southeast Asian Coffee Education Congress with the theme "Quality Research and Extension: Imperatives in the Development of Coffee Industry in Southeast Asia" on October 1-4, 2018 at Tagaytay City, Cavite, Philippines. The Congress primarily aims to disseminate information on the status of Southeast Asian coffee industry through the presentation of outputs and outcomes of research and extension works on coffee. It also aims to establish linkages among Southeast Asian universities actively working on the development of the coffee industry.

Speakers will discuss the scientific revolution on coffee and its relation to sustainability, profitability and resiliency. Coffee cupping workshop, coffee-based cooking, barista skills, and latte art as well as coffee art demonstrations will also be held to showcase and enhance the skills of the participants. A product exhibition will likewise be held to promote coffee products from the different countries from various government agencies, non-government organizations and business sectors. Moreover, the status, prospects, research and extension initiatives of various agro-producing countries in the region will also presented.

Call for Research and Extension Paper and Poster Presentations

All researchers and other stakeholders from higher education institutions, both public and private colleges and universities, and other government or private research institutions working on research and development and extension works on coffee are invited to submit their original scientific papers for paper and poster presentation.

The research should have been conducted in the last five (5) years. The abstract should contain the short background, objectives, methodology, major findings and conclusions, but not exceeding 250 words. It should be submitted on or before August 24, 2018 (Friday, 11:59 pm) at .

Authors of qualified abstracts will be notified thru email on August 31, 2018 (Friday). Guidelines in writing the extended abstract will be forwarded to the authors of the accepted papers.

Registration Fee

The registration fee is USD160 for foreign participants and PHP7,000 for local participants inclusive of congress kit and meals (am snacks, lunch and pm snacks) for the whole duration of the conference.
