SEARCA publishes monograph on Weather Index-Based Insurance for Agricultural Production

SEARCA released a new monograph that tackles issues involved in the implementation of weather index-based insurance (WIBI) for agricultural production highlighting experiences from the Philippines. Risks of rainfall deficits in rice production for different planting dates for typical rice varieties grown are estimated in four selected provinces in the Philippines.

Implementation Issues in Weather Index-based Insurance for Agricultural Production: A Philippine Case StudyThe monograph was based on the SEARCA Professorial Chair Lecture titled “Implementation Issues in Weather Index-based Insurance for Managing Risk in Agricultural Production” presented by Dr. Felino P. Lansigan, Professor and Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

The Asia Pacific Adaptation network (APAN) and the Ministry of Environment, Japan (MOEJ) provided funding for the publication of the monograph.
