The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) published a monograph series on analyses of the profitability and financial viability of selected products and technologies funded and promoted by the Philippine Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR).
The project, titled Financial Viability and Profitability Analysis of Agricultural Technologies and Enterprises, aimed to stress the importance of conducting thorough research to attract potential adopters and investors in developing products and technologies.
Funded by DA-BAR, the project produced 10 monographs highlighting the technology and investment profile of selected DA-BAR funded products and technologies that are ready for commercialization.
A total of 25 products from eight commodities were featured in the monographs. Specifically, these include batuan products, cacao wine, cashew products, improved native garlic, pinoy GOURmix, malunggay products, seaweed products, soya chips, soy baby food, and soybean roast.
Each monograph showcased the description and source of technology, market potential, as well as the recommended processing practices for each product. All products are considered financially viable and profitable, given various assumptions established in each monograph.
The monographs, which are available online, can be acquired for reference to prospective investors of the said products. These are now available for free download at the SEARCA website (https://www.searca.org/pubs/monographs?cid=33).
