The School-Plus-Home Project (S+HGP) of SEARCA, co-implemented with the the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) and the Department of Education (DepEd)-Laguna has recently been presented at the 18th Science Council of Asia (SCA) Conference held at SCA's Headquarters, Tokyo, Japan on December 5-7, 2018. For this year, the SCA conference highlighted research, innovations, and programs that addresses the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across Asia. 
LOS BAÑOS, Laguna, Philippines – Experts and emerging leaders of higher education institutions (HEIs) in Southeast Asia have gathered to participate in the Leadership Development Program for Higher Education Institutions in Southeast Asia (LDP-HEIs in SEA) held here at the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) from 21 to 25 January 2019. SEARCA, through its Knowledge Management Department-Training Unit (KMD-TU), co-organized the program with The Head Foundation (THF) based in Singapore. 
LOS BAÑOS, Laguna – Twenty-eight SEARCA scholars enrolled at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), Universitas Gadjah Mada in Indonesia, and Universiti Putra Malaysia attended the training workshops on Data Analysis and Experimental Designs and Writing Thesis and Dissertation Proposals at the SEARCA Headquarters on 7 – 11 January 2019 and 9 – 11 January 2019, respectively. 
SEARCA, Los Baños, LAGUNA – An endless queue of women in colorful garbs and earthen jars nestled over their heads, waiting turns to fetch water from a shallow river in Myanmar for "donation", was adjudged the best photo from over a thousand submissions from 10 Southeast Asian countries in the recently concluded 12th annual SEARCA Photo Contest.

ASRF awards Grant to Indonesia

The ASEAN Working Group on Social Forestry (AWG-SF) Strategic Response Fund [ASRF], funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and managed by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), has awarded grant to Indonesia for the project titled Developing Mangrove Forest Environmental Education Program for the Ecotourism of Juru Sebrang Community Forest in Belitung. 
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia – The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) recently participated in the 1st Regional Policy Forum (RPF) on the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)-funded project, Agricultural Transformation and Market Integration in the ASEAN Region: Responding to Food Security and Inclusiveness Concerns (ATMI-ASEAN) organized by International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) on 13-14 December 2018 at the Garden City Hotel. 
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia – The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), in partnership with the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), conducted back-to-back national-level activities under the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)-funded project, Agricultural Transformation and Market Integration in the ASEAN Region: Responding to Food Security and Inclusiveness Concerns (ATMI-ASEAN) on 7 and 11 December 2018 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. 
BANGKOK, Thailand – Initial talks between the Acting President of Kasetsart University (KU) and officials of the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) focused on how the two institutions will help poor Southeast Asian farmers by combining KU's Knowledge of the Land Program anchored on the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej's Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) and SEARCA's approach to promoting inclusive and sustainable agricultural and rural development (ISARD). Dr Gil C. Saguiguit, Jr., former SEARCA Director, and now Senior Fellow, presented his concept proposal on this new regional program he developed.
