BANGKOK, Thailand – The joint thematic initiative of the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) and the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) on mainstreaming agrobiodiversity resulted in the conduct of the Multi-sectoral Workshop on Mainstreaming Biodiversity in Food and Agriculture in Bangkok, Thailand on 4-6 December 2018. The workshop provided a platform for the environment and agriculture sectors in the ASEAN Community to discuss and develop a common understanding of agrobiodiversity conservation and sustainable use. LOS BAÑOS, Philippines – The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), in partnership with the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR), conducted the training of the first batch of participants on Financial Viability and Profitability Analysis of Agricultural Technologies and Enterprises on 12-17 November 2018 at the SEARCA headquarters. 
BALI, Indonesia – Ms. May Soe Oo and Mr. Sem Savuth, both SEARCA scholars, participated in the 7th International Conference on Integration of Science and Technology for Sustainable Development 2018 (ICIST2018) held on 26-29 November 2018 at The Patra Bali Resort and Villas, here. The conference with the theme, "Water conservation, Biological Diversity, Food Safety and Agriculture," was organized to initiate an international network among academic members, researchers, scientists, and others interested in science and technology. It provided a venue for knowledge exchange and discussion for students and academicians seeking new vision and insight among related topics. 
LOS BAÑOS, LAGUNA, Philippines – Fourteen graduate students have been awarded certificates of completion during the closing program of the Language Instruction Towards Excellence (LITE) Program held on 3 December 2018 at the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), University of the Philippine Los Baños (UPLB). Since 1996, the UPLB-CAS LITE Program, through the Intensive English Course for International Graduate Students (IEIGS), has been helping UPLB international graduate students attain the required linguistic competency to hurdle academic life in the university. 
LOS BAÑOS, Philippines – The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), commissioned by the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR), conducted the Orientation and 1st Face-to-Face Session under the project Information and Knowledge Management (IKM) Mentorship Program: Communicating Agriculture and Fisheries Research for Inclusive and Sustainable Development (CAFRISD) to welcome the second batch of learner-participants on 19-21 November 2018 at SEARCA. The event was attended by 18 research and information officers from the different regional offices of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and DA attached agencies. 
HANOI, Vietnam – The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) and the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development (IPSARD) organized back-to-back national-level events under the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)-funded project Agricultural Transformation and Market Integration in the ASEAN Region: Responding to Food Security and Inclusiveness Concerns (ATMI-ASEAN) on 15 November 2018 at the Center for Women and Development (CWD) Hotel, Hanoi, Vietnam. 
BOGOR, Indonesia – The ASEAN Swiss Partnership on Social Forestry and Climate Change (ASFCC) held its annual Planning Meeting to discuss operational plans for 2019, the program's final year of full implementation. Held in Bogor, Indonesia on 18-21 November 2018, the meeting likewise deliberated on ways to ensure synergy in the implementation of planned activities, including coordination in communication of programmatic messages and effective dissemination of ASFCC outputs. It discussed plans for institutionalization and sustainability of achievements beyond Phase III, the final stage of the program.

SEARCA, in partnership with the Camarines Norte State College (CNSC), organized the International Conference on Research and Extension (ICONRE 2018) held last 8-10 November 2018 at the CNSC Main Campus, Daet, Camarines Norte, Philippines.  With this year's theme Creating Pathways for Collaboration for a Progressive and Sustainable Research and Extension Productivity, ICONRE 2018 served as a platform for knowledge generation, exchanges in views and ideas, and cooperation among academicians, industry practitioners, and other stakeholders. 
BAYBAY, LEYTE, Philippines – Along the overarching theme of the flagship program titled, Piloting and Upscaling Effective Models of Inclusive and Sustainable Agricultural and Rural Development (ISARD), the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) held a two-day Workshop on Participatory Assessment of the Gains, Challenges and Opportunities in Piloting and Upscaling Effective Models ISARD at the Visayas State University (VSU), Baybay City, Leyte on 19-20 November 2018.
