    SEARCA's Core Programs

    Education

SEARCA develops a regional pipeline of agriculture and rural development (ARD) leaders through graduate education, targeted training, and collaboration under the Southeast Asian University Consortium for Graduate Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC). It does so by:

    • Expanding cohorts of MS/PhD scholars and emerging professionals.
    • Modernizing curricula and enhancing faculty and student mobility.
    • Delivering practice-focused training and catalyzing youth engagement.

    Research

SEARCA generates high-impact, policy-engaged research that informs decisions, strengthens institutions, and identifies scalable, sustainable solutions for Southeast Asia's agri-food systems. Alongside these efforts are:

    • Driving sustainable transformation through the Consortium for Agricultural Policy Research and Innovation (CAPRI), which co-produces policy-relevant research.
    • Advancing inquiry and capacity via grants and fellowship programs that nurture early-stage research and regional expertise.
    • Bridging evidence and policy by convening policy forums, roundtables, and conferences that translate research insights into actionable outcomes.
    • Powering evidence access through the AFNR Knowledge Platform and other open repositories that aggregate and share data for ARD in the region.

    Innovation

SEARCA accelerates the adoption and scaling of sustainable, climate-resilient agricultural technologies across Southeast Asia by:

    • Bridging innovation, incubation, and technology transfer with policy, markets, and capital.
    • Turning research into bankable pilots and investable ventures.
    • Empowering agri-innovation ecosystems through mentorship and capacity building.
    • Scaling proven solutions to reach farms and value chains faster.

SEARCA's Program Support Units for Knowledge Management, Partnerships, and Project Development and Technical Services as well as Administrative Units provide integrated and sustained support to the core programs, ensuring the effective implementation of the Center's 12th Five-Year Development Plan.
