Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded project “TA-9689 REG: Analysis of Fruit and Vegetable Value Chains in the Philippines”

The project will conduct a thorough analysis of the value chains of three main fruits/vegetables which will be selected in the inception workshop. Specifically, the objectives of the project are the following:

  1. Assess the post-harvest loss occurring in different segments of the value chains like harvesting, field-stacking, cleaning, packaging, storage, transportation and loading-unloading;2.
  2. Assess the profitability (of farmers) in production of fruits and vegetables;
  3. Identify and evaluate the role of middlemen and its impact on price and supply; 
  4. Evaluate the availability and quality of cold storage facilities, transportation, packaging, etc.; and,
  5. Identify and analyze the constraints in each segment of the value chain and suggest specific strategies and interventions to improve fruit and vegetable value chains in the country.
