THE Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) has launched a video contest to showcase local food production practices by young people during the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. The competition dubbed “Youth Covideo Contest” is open to Filipinos and other Southeast Asians 15 to 35 years old in group or individual entries. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has appointed Dr. Glenn B. Gregorio, Director of the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), as Chairperson of the CHED Technical Panel for Agriculture (TPA). CHED said it “has appointed new technical panel members in the fields of public administration and agriculture to carry out the mandate of the Commission to harness the equal representation of the academe, government and industry in curriculum reform and ensure that academic programs produce the needed manpower for local and international needs.” The academe is represented in the TPA by Dr. Candida… Read more

Director Glenn Gregorio of the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) was appointed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) as chairman of its Technical Panel for Agriculture (TPA) to lead reforms in the agriculture curriculum. The Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) has re-formed its technical panel for agriculture (TPA) as part of a trend to make agriculture a preeminent policy tool in poverty reduction and economic growth. “The reconstitution of technical panels is anchored on the need to align higher education to standards, priorities and needs in international, regional and national settings. To make the farm sector a poverty reduction tool during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine government has reconstituted a technical panel for agriculture, which will be led by the chief of international think tank Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA).
