IT head recognized for digital innovation

JAYMARK Warren Dia, unit head for Management Information Systems at the Laguna-based Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to digital innovation.

Dia received the prestigious Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Service Award 2024/2025 for his remarkable work in modernizing SEARCA's IT infrastructure and services.

It was on July 1, 2025 during the 53rd SEAMEO Council Conference at the Empire Hotel in Brunei Darussalam when Dia was recognized for his outstanding service, innovation and unwavering commitment to SEARCA over the past two decades.

A University of the Philippines Los Baños graduate in computer science with a graduate degree in business management, Dia has been at the forefront of SEARCA's digital transformation.

In 2012, his contributions began with the modernization of SEARCA's network through the Structured Cabling Project, and in 2017, he later spearheaded the adoption of Managed Print Services, which saved SEARCA approximately P2.5 million in printing costs within two years.

The IT team under Dia's leadership also transitioned to a more efficient Internet Protocol telephony system and embraced cloud technologies, which resulted in a 70 percent reduction in operational costs.

This strategic shift was critical during the pandemic lockdown, enabling SEARCA to continue its operations seamlessly and deliver online training.

Dia's leadership style is characterized by humility, integrity and a service-first mindset. He was appointed as the youngest member of SEARCA's Management Committee in 2019 and earned the respect of his colleagues by fostering a culture of collaboration and growth within his team. He also initiated regular satisfaction surveys to align IT services with the needs of stakeholders.

His influence extends beyond his official duties and he actively participates in high-level committees and mentors colleagues, bringing a forward-looking perspective grounded in innovation and collaboration.

He views challenges as learning opportunities and is committed to empowering others through sustainable digital solutions. The SEAMEO Service Award celebrates Dia as a pillar of innovation, service, and quiet excellence, recognizing his crucial role in shaping SEARCA's technological future.

Dia's contributions have not only improved the center's operational efficiency but also demonstrated his dedication to innovation and service. As a pioneer in digital innovation, his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of IT professionals and leaders.
