LOS BAÑOS, Laguna, Philippines – A foreign-funded project on climate resilience covering three cities and six towns in areas with critical watersheds in Luzon and Mindanao continues to gain momentum.
Supported by the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR) through the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the ongoing project is titled “Technical Assistance (TA) on Climate Resilience and Green Growth in Critical Watersheds.”
To be implemented until October 2016, it will demonstrate climate-resilient and green growth options for communities in the watersheds of Lower Marikina, which straddles Marikina City, Quezon City, and Cainta, Rizal; Camarines Sur, which encompasses Naga City and the towns of Milaor and San Fernando; and Davao Oriental, which covers the towns of Baganga, Boston, and Cateel.
The Climate Change Commission (CCC) serves as the project’s implementing agency for the Philippine government.
ADB has also commissioned the government-hosted, Los Baños-based Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) to support the project’s implementation in collaboration with the CTI Engineering International Co. Ltd. of Japan, ERGONS Project Marketing Consultants (EPMC), and Woodfields Consultants, Inc.
The project contract was signed last April 21 at the ADB office in Mandaluyong City.
