The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) is calling its 10-nation bloc to apply for a small-grants facility that funds social forestry projects.

All ASEAN-member states are invited to submit proposals for the project, addressing the region's issue on food insecurity, poverty and climate change.

The SEARCA will provide a maximum budget of $25,000 for each state and has given one to two strategic proposals, said Leah Lyn Domingo, SEARCA public relations specialist.

Proposed projects, which will be under the ASEAN Working Group on Social Forestry (AWG-SF) Strategic Response Fund, may be any one of the quick "turn-around" studies, exploratory reviews, analytical studies, national and local consultations and learning exchange activities.

The Philippine government-hosted SEARCA, which circulated a Project Development Workshop Toolkit to prepare more strategic proposals for the region.

Deadline for the proposals is set on October 16.
