A Planning Meeting among the implementing partners of the ASEAN-Swiss Partnership on Social Forestry and Climate Change (ASFCC), its Advisors, and the AWG-SF Secretariat will be held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on 18-19 October 2019. The partners will present their respective accomplishments based on the Log Frame of the ASFCC and Plan of Action of the ASEAN Working Group on Social Forestry (AWG-SF) for 2016-2020. LOS BAÑOS, Laguna – SEARCA and the Food Security Center (FSC) of the University of Hohenheim in Germany concluded the 2019 FSC Summer School on 27 September 2019 with 19 students from Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Bogor, Indonesia and Bangkok, Thailand - SEARCA through its Graduate Education and Institutional Development Department (GEIDD) organized a back-to-back orientation for new and continuing scholars based in Institut Pertanian Bogor, Indonesia and Kasetsart University, Thailand. The orientation was facilitated by Dr. Maria Cristeta N. Bogor, Indonesia – The Southeast Asian University Consortium for Graduate Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC) together with the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) and the Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) organized the 5th University Consortium Graduate Forum (UCGF) on 1-2 October 2019. A scientist, research manager, and teacher in national and international public and private institutions, SEARCA Director Dr. Glenn B. Gregorio was awarded as Crop Science Society of the Philippines (CSSP) Honorary Fellow. Dr. Gregorio was recognized for his significant contributions to crop science through his pioneering breeding research. These include having led the development of at least 20 rice varieties with tolerance to abiotic stresses while at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) as Senior Plant Breeder.
