Two new scholars awarded Joint UPM-SEARCA Scholarships

A hand-over ceremony to award two new Joint UPM-SEARCA Scholarship Grants was administered by Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris, UPM Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Maria Cristeta Cuaresma, Program Head for Graduate Education and Institutional Development of SEARCA, on 27 October 2017 in Selangor, Malaysia. The new UPM-SEARCA scholarship recipients are Ms. Arissara Supawong of Thailand and Ms. Nuraizat Abidin of Brunei Darussalam.

Ms. Arissawa is a lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture of Ubon Ratchathani University and is pursuing PhD in Biodiversity and Conservation of Natural Resources. On the other hand, Ms. Nuraizat is a Research Assistant at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam and is enrolled in MS in Plant Pathology.

The Joint UPM-SEARCA Graduate Scholarship project started in 2012 and is now on its second phase. This year's hand-over ceremony was also witnessed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ganesan Vadamalai, Head of the Department of Plant Protection and other officials of the School of Graduate Studies of UPM, namely: Prof. Dr. Nor Aini Ab. Shukor, Deputy Dean for Thesis; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tang Sai Hong, Deputy Dean for International and Mobility; and Mr. Saiful Maskan, Senior Assistant Registrar.
