Four graduate students receive SEARCA PhD Research Scholarships

Four PhD students from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) have been awarded SEARCA scholarships to fund their respective dissertations, starting AY 2014-2015. They are Joseph Angelus F. Palomar from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region IV-A and Rowena S. T. Gaddi of the College of Forestry and Natural Resources, UPLB from the Philippines; and Ms. Hari Sulistiyowati, of the University of Jember and Mr. Bimo Budi Santoso of the State University of Papua, from Indonesia.

Mr. Palomar and Ms. Gadi are both into PhD in Forestry program. Ms. Sulistiyowati is pursuing PhD in Botany while Mr. Santoso is taking up PhD Agricultural Chemistry.

The PhD Research Scholarship is one of the regular offerings of the SEARCA Scholarship Program established in 2005, which aims at providing PhD students the opportunity to use the resources and facilities available at SEARCA and its network of universities for their research, as well as produce quality research papers for publication. It is currently open to all Southeast Asian graduate students studying at the universities under the University Consortium, namely UPLB, Institut Pertanian Bogor and Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia; Kasetsart University in Thailand; and Universiti Pertanian Malaysia.
