FlexPHD sets December 31 registration deadline

The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), in partnership with the National Academy of Science and Technology of the Philippines (NAST PHL) and the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) holds the FlexPHD: Food is Life Exemplified for Planetary Health Diet.

With the theme “Mobile App Development Competition for Planetary Health Diet”, FlexPHD encourages values-driven food choices.

The organizers have announced that Filipino students, researchers, data analysts, computer programmers, app developers, and other stakeholders joining the “Online Design Thinking Class” to create/develop their ideas to help consumers make the right food choices have until Dec. 31, 2022, to submit their application for registration.

Anyone who can form a team of three members, preferably carrying the name of a school, company, NGO, cooperative, or association can join. There is no educational attainment or age limit.

The top 40 teams to finish the Design Thinking Class will each receive PHP 10,000.00 as ideation fund. From here 12 teams will emerge from the regional hackathons and receive PHP 50,000.00 as seed fund for prototype improvement.

The competition will culminate on the National Demo Day to be held in 2023, where the teams will compete for the PHP 500,000.00 Grand Prize. The 2nd prize winner receives PHP 200,000.00 and PHP 100,000.00 for the 3rd prize winner.
