Dr. Cecilia N. Gascon (second from left), President of Bulacan State University (BulSU) and a SEARCA alumna, visited SEARCA on 20 June 2019 with Dr. Remedios Azarcon (right), Director, BulSU Office of Faculty and Staff Development, to meet with Dr. Glenn B. Gregorio (second from right), SEARCA Director, and Dr. Maria Cristeta N. Cuaresma (left), to explore the possibility of a joint scholarship project.
Dr. Cecilia N. Gascon, President of Bulacan State University (BulSU) and a SEARCA alumna, visited SEARCA on 20 June 2019 along with Dr. Remedios Azarcon, Director, BulSU Office of Faculty and Staff Development.
They met with Dr. Glenn B. Gregorio, SEARCA Director, and Dr. Maria Cristeta N. Cuaresma, SEARCA Program Head for Graduate Education and Institutional Development (GEID), to discuss the possibility for BulSU and SEARCA to collaborate on a joint scholarship to build up BulSU's Environmental Science Program toward instituting a center for climate change.
BulSU has five campuses, the main campus being in Malolos, Bulacan. It has 14 colleges and a graduate school and offers more than 60 academic programs. Currently, it has 1,138 faculty members and 35,958 students.
Prior to taking the helm of BulSU, Dr. Gascon was also President of Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) and is credited for transforming Southern Luzon Polytechnic College into a full-fledged state university. She obtained her PhD in Forestry at UPLB in 1998 under SEARCA scholarship.
