SEARCA and UPLB to develop protocols for disease indexing and certification for the calamansi project
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – The project team for the component on promotion and dissemination of integrated pest management strategies of the DA-BAR funded project Upgrading the Calamansi Value Chain towards Improving the Calamansi Industry in Oriental Mindoro will discuss the disease indexing protocols for citrus greening, certification protocols for the production of clean planting materials, and quarantine regulations on the movement of calamansi seedlings with the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) in Baguio City on 21-22 May 2019.
With the information gathered during the meeting, the project aims to improve and/or develop reliable protocols for disease diagnosis and indexing. This technology will be disseminated to farmer-partners of the project through the development of IEC materials and training modules.
The component is headed by Dr. Flor A. Ceballo and Dr. Filomena C. Sta. Cruz, Associate Professors and Study Leaders from the Institute of Weed Science, Entomology and Plant Pathology of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB-IWEP). (Anna Gale C. Vallez)
