Training on Scaling-up of S+HGP in Quezon Province

Date: July 2021 to June 2022

Under the overall program on Scaling of School-plus Home Gardens Program (S+HGP), and with the participation of at least three schools, SEARCA, in partnership with the Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc., will conduct a teacher's training in Quezon Province not only as an intervention for improvement of the area but also as a platform to educate, exchange knowledge, experiences, and create awareness that shall strengthen the implementation of a similar SHGP, if any, that will be initiated in the area.

At the end of the training, the participants should be able to: 1) Discuss experiences, initiatives, and good practices for implementing SHGP or similar activities; 2) Explain key elements of food and nutrition, sustainable development goals, organic agriculture, and edible landscaping for integration in the SHGP and their links to income and character development; 3) Describe the process and requirements of designing, establishing, and maintaining edible organic school gardens; biodiversity enhancing landscaping, and the involvement of students, teachers, parents and local institutions to support, scale up, and disseminate information about SHGP; 4) Know the steps in preparing sample learning lesson or teacher's logs and equip teachers with materials that can be used for complementing SHGP integration in the curriculum.
