This training-workshop aims to strengthen the agricultural biotechnology manpower capacity in Asian countries through intensive basic training and is envisioned to pave the way for the development and enhancement of biotechnology industry in the region. It will consist of lectures and laboratory exercises on core biotechnology techniques such as cloning tools, transformation in plants and animals, protein expression systems, molecular detection techniques, molecular markers, and marker-assisted selection in breeding. Topics on applications of biotechnology on plant, animal, and food industry will also be covered. Study visits to biotechnology industries will also be undertaken.
SEARCA is co-organizing this training-workshop with the National Taiwan University (NTU), the Food and Fertilizer Technology Center for the Asian and Pacific Region (FFTC/ASPAC), and Taiwan’s Science and Technology Information Center of the National Applied Research Laboratories.
