July-2010 SEARCA News Release
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is inviting applications for grants and scholarships from non-German academics and scientists working in higher education or research institutes to carry out a research project at a state or state-recognized higher education institution on non-university research institute in Germany.
Application for research stays is open to excellently-qualified academics and scientists who are PhD degree holders and working in higher education or research institute in their home country. Important selection criteria are the applicants’ previous academic achievements (including recent publications) and a well-planned research project to be completed during the stay in Germany. The project must be coordinated and agreed with a research collaborating partner at the chosen research institute in Germany. Written confirmation of the research cooperation, including express reference to the applicant’s project, and proof of a workplace being provided at the host institute must be included with the application papers.
The research stay may be for one to three months, depending on the applicant’s work schedule. Scholarship entitlements vary depending on the scholar’s academic status, that is, the month award will amount to 1,840 euros for assistant lecturers, assistant professors, and young lecturers, and 1,990 euros for professors, in exceptions, 2,240 euros. In addition, the DAAD will provide a flat-rate travel allowance unless these costs are covered by the home country or another funding source.
More information on application requirements and submission procedure are available on the DAAD website at www.daad.de.
