July-2010 SEARCA News Release
Recipients of scholarships awarded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) can now apply for a re-invitation to conduct a project (e.g., research) for 1-3 months at a public or state-recognized higher education institution or non-university research institution in Germany.
The re-invitations are open to DAAD alumni who were one-year scholarship holders, study scholarship holders, research grant holders with a scholarship/grant lasting more than six months, and scholarship holders who studied in East Germany (DDR) for at least one year. To be eligible to apply, DAAD alumni must have been back in their home country for at least three years.
The primary selection criterion is a convincing and well-planned research project that has been coordinated and agreed with a research collaborating partner at the chosen research institute in Germany. The application must include a written confirmation of the research cooperation, including express reference to the applicant’s project.
Scholarship entitlements vary depending on the grantee’s academic status, from 1,840 euros for assistant lecturers, assistant professors, and young lecturers, to 1,990 euros for professors, and in exceptions, 2,240 euros. A flat-rate travel allowance will also be provided unless the home country or another funding source covers travel costs.
More information on application requirements and submission procedure are available on the DAAD website at www.daad.de.
The DAAD President shall issue all invitations.
