The first Tokyo University of Agriculture (TUA)-SEARCA Scholarship for Doctoral Dissertation was awarded to Mr. Tran Quang Trung, Lecturer, Faculty of Accounting and Business Management, Hanoi Agricultural University, Vietnam.
Effective 1 June 2010, Mr. Trung’s scholarship is tenable at TUA for a period of three years. His dissertation doctorate program requires him to stay at TUA for one month every year for three years to undertake consultations with his Academic Adviser at TUA.
The topic of Mr. Trung’s doctoral dissertation is on “The Influence of Rural Investment Climate Factors on Business Operations of Agricultural Firms: Evidence from Vietnam.”
The TUA-SEARCA Doctoral DissertationScholarship is offered for three years, starting school year 2010/2011. One slot is available for school year 2011/2012. To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, the applicant must:
- Be a researcher with fulltime employment at the university or research institution;
- Be a holder of a master’s degree in agriculture or related fields;
- Have produced at least two peer-reviewed scientific papers in scholarly journals at home or abroad and has served first author of at least one of those papers;
- Have already made a substantial progress in a research project which will deserve a doctorate degree in three years; and
- Be not more than 50 years old at the start of the program.
Applicants must submit the accomplished application form, most recent curriculum vitae, dissertation proposal, list of publications, and letter of agreement from the home institution to SEARCA on or before 31 January 2011.
