Taiwan, R.O.C. - Professor Dr. Jenn-Wen Huang, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, National Chung-Hsing University (NCHU) of Taichung, Taiwan was elected as the President of the Asian Association of Agricultural Colleges and Universities (AAACU) during the Governing Council Meeting at the close of the 16th AAACU Biennial Convention held in Taichung, Taiwan on 28 October 2006. Prof. Huang took over the post from Prof. Dr. Tsukasa Matsuda, Dean of the Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences, Nagoya University, Japan and outgoing President of AAACU.
Prof. Huang is the 21st Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, NCHU following his appointment to the post on August 1, 2006. Professor Huang obtained his Ph. D. in Plant Pathology from the University of Georgia, Athens, USA in 1990. His research interests involve management of crop diseases by plant extracts and organic soil amendment, ecology and taxonomy of Fusarium spp., and diagnosis of vegetable and fruit crop diseases. He has developed and formulated products such as S-H mixture, FBN-5A, and CH100 for control of plant fungal diseases.
Professor Huang authored seven books, namely: “Genus Fusarium from Taiwan”, “Plant Diseases and Their Control”, “Compendium of Pear Diseases”, “Plant Fusarium Diseases in Taiwan”, “Compendium of Vegetable Crop Diseases”, “Management of Shade Tree Problems” and “Plant Disease Diagnosis and Control” (E.C.
