The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) was established on 30 November 1965 as a chartered international organization whose purpose is to promote cooperation in education, science and culture in the Southeast Asian region.
SEARCA is SEAMEO's center of excellence in agriculture.
The SEAMES, located in Bangkok, Thailand, is the conceptual body of SEAMEO. It serves as the executive arm of the Council and the Headquarters of the Organisation as well.
SEAMEO’s programs and projects are carried out by its regional centers and network. Over the past three decades, SEAMEO established 15 such regional centers and network in member countries. These aim to serve the human resource development needs of member countries in their respective fields of expertise: archeology and fine arts, tropical biology, tropical medicine, distance learning, graduate study and research in agriculture, higher education, educational innovation and technology, language education, vocational and technical education, and science and mathematics education.
