The Policy Roundtable (PRT) with the theme, Agricultural Transformation and Market Integration in ASEAN: The Case of Livestock Sector in Vietnam will focus on the rapid value chain study on swine being conducted by the Center for Agricultural Policy (CAP) of IPSARD under the ATMI-ASEAN project. The PRT aims to solicit inputs and recommendations from various stakeholders involved in the swine sector of Vietnam for the successful completion of the policy study.
Dr. Tran Cong Thang, Vice Director-General of IPSARD and the focal point of ATMI-ASEAN in Vietnam, will present the initial results of their swine value chain study, while Dr. Dang Kim Khoi, Director of CAP, will discuss the impacts of current foreign trade agreements (FTAs) to the livestock sector of the country. Mr. Manmeet Ajmani, Research Analyst from the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), will also share their comparative study on market integration in Vietnam and Myanmar.
Dr. Pedcris M. Orencio, SEARCA's Program Head for Research and Development, will deliver a message for the Center, while Ms. Aniq Fadhillah, ATMI-ASEAN Policy Facilitator, will be speaking for IFPRI. The SEARCA Project Support Unit (PSU) for the ATMI-ASEAN project led by Prof. Jimmy B. Williams will also be participating in these back-to-back events. Around 50 experts from the government, academe, farmers and civil society organizations, and the private sector are expected to attend the PRT.
Immediately after the PRT will be the 2nd NPSC Meeting of Vietnam where current project updates, next steps, and succeeding project activities and events will be discussed. This NPSC meeting is part of the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities under the ATMI-ASEAN project. A pre-event Partner's Meeting between IPSARD and SEARCA will also be held on 14 November 2018 at IPSARD. (Bernice Anne C. Darvin)
