To recognize the efforts and celebrate the successes of the six partner schools of the SEARCA-DepEd-UPLB project titled, A Participatory Action Research on School and Community-based Food and Nutrition Program for Literacy, Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development (SCBFNP), a Recognition Program will be held on 24 April 2017 at the DL Umali Auditorium, SEARCA Headquarters.
The partner schools will be represented by their respective district supervisors, heads, school garden coordinators, PTA presidents, and municipal agriculturists. Other attendees will include officials from the various offices of the Department of Education (DepEd), University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), Department of Agriculture, and the Provincial Government of Laguna.
The awarding of the Most Outstanding School Partner and special citations for other categories are the highlights of the Recognition Program. Winning schools have been selected through school-to-school evaluation conducted by the Project Management Team from 22 to 24 March 2017.
Since January 2016, climate-smart school gardens with edible landscaping designs have been established by the participating schools. The school gardens regularly provide fresh vegetables for the school feeding program for undernourished children, and have also served as important learning sites for school children for their lessons especially in Science, Math, and English classes. Other accomplishments of the Project will be presented during the event. (Elson Ian Nyl E. Galang)
