Under the direct supervision of the Special Projects Coordinator, the incumbent shall provide technical assistance in the implementation of SEARCA’s knowledge management initiatives, mainly but not limited to Biotechnology Information Center.
TERMS OF REFERENCE:
Assist in the implementation, coordination, documentation, and evaluation of BIC outreach and capacity building activities;
Supervise the production and broadcast of the Biotech-on-Air radio program;
Arrange interviews with key stakeholders, prepare interview guides and pointers, develop news and feature articles and media backgrounders;
Package information materials for uploading in the SEARCA and BIC websites and publications (i.e., press releases, brochures, bookmarks, biotech information sheets and resources, etc.), and preparation of multimedia materials on biotechnology;
Package print-ready information, education, and communication (IEC) materials, which may include coordination with offsite graphic artist;
Monitor updates done in the BIC website;
Manage the BIC-e-news service and social media activities via Twitter, Facebook, etc.;
Build-up the mailing list to achieve targets prescribed by ISAAA-KC;
Assist in activities related to the conduct of communication research on biotechnology;
Prepare drafts of the SEARCA accomplishment reports as well as progress reports for donor agencies;
Assist in the preparation and subsequent monitoring of the BIC budget from Operational and Other Funds sources; and
Assist in the implementation of BIC unplanned tasks, and perform other tasks that may be assigned from time to time.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in in Development Communication or relevant Communication and Social Science fields.
WORK EXPERIENCE: At least 2-3 years of relevant work experience required, preferably in an organization with similar mandate as SEARCA.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: good management, organizational, monitoring and coordination capabilities; excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and client orientation skills; familiarity with IT and fair amount of relevant IT knowhow/applications; good writing and information processing skills; good writing and information processing skills, visual and graphic design, publication layout and design, and multimedia skills an advantage; and proficient in computer software applications i.e., word processing, database management, PowerPoint presentation, spreadsheets, etc.
